England fast bowler Jofra Archer is happy to be back from a long injury and is hoping to be a part of the ODI team to defend their World Cup title in India next year.

Archer has not played for England since the five-match T20I series in India in March 2021 and has since undergone three surgeries. Earlier this year, Archer was ruled out of the entire competitive cricketing action of the English season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back.

But on Wednesday, in the England vs England Lions warm-up match at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi, Archer bowled nine overs in two spells and even hit the helmet of a fast bouncer Jack Crawley in his first over back to cricket.

I’m so, so happy to be back and it’s a big year for me,” Archer was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. We have just won the T20, we have the 50-over title. I hope I get a chance to help defend the title.

Right now, Archer is happy to be back in the mix for England and feels he needs to work a bit to get fully fit. Here in Abu Dhabi, and around the people, it’s kind of a heartwarming feeling, it makes you feel like you’re at home again.
