A Ukrainian official said Russia’s attack on Saturday caused 10 explosions in Odessa, a day after the warring parties agreed to a deal to help transport millions of tons of grain from the port and others in the Black Sea.

The strike threatens to derail an agreement to boost the shipment of grain to Ukraine, brokered by the Un and Turkey, even before the deal could take action. The agreement is being seen as a significant boost to global supply after a sharp decline in Ukraine’s food exports, raising concerns about food shortages in poorer countries.

The sentence from Ukraine was swift. Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the country’s foreign ministry, said on Facebook that with the attacks, Russian President Vladimir V Putin had “spit in the face” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after the two “made great efforts to reach this agreement.”

ODSA, Ukraine – the port of Odessa, which has been hit by Russian missiles on Saturday since the start of the war in February, is frozen in time. Steel transport-ready loading is guaranteed in the dock, and the colorful cranes remain silent as giant sleep birds.
