New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday arrested former NSE MD Chitra Ramakrishnan in connection with alleged illegal phone tapping of stock exchange employees and money laundering related to espionage after a Delhi court cleared the case to probe the matter.
Special Judge Sunaina Sharma allowed four days’ custodial interrogation of Ramakrishnan.
The former managing director of NSE was produced before the court from jail on an earlier order passed by the judge.
The judge had issued a production warrant against the accused on the ED’s plea.
After the accused was produced, the ED took permission from the court to interrogate him.
Later, the ED arrested Ramakrishnan on the grounds of non-cooperation and again produced him before the court and urged him for nine days’ custodial interrogation.
However, the court granted four days’ custody to the agency.
Ramakrishnan was arrested by the CBI in a separate case and is currently in judicial custody.
