Fort Worth (USA) | US officials on Wednesday approved a request by American Airlines to resume flights to five destinations in Cuba. They were stopped in 2019 during the tenure of former US President Donald Trump. At that time the Trump administration had sharply cut air services between the two countries. The Department of Transportation’s decision will allow American Airlines’ flights to resume from Miami to Santa Clara, Varadero, Holguin, Camague and Santiago de Cuba.
American Airlines said that services will be started from the beginning of November. There will be two flights per day from Santa Clara and only one flight to other destinations. American Airlines currently operates six flights a day between Miami and Havana. Airlines JetBlue Airlines and Southwest Airlines also operate flights to Havana.
